Pikes Peak, in Colorado, is part of the mountain range in western North America known as the Rocky Mountains. It is 14,115 ft high. The highest summit of the Rocky Mountains, also in Colorado, is Mount Elbert at 14,440 ft.

The Rockies stretch more than 3000 miles from the northern part of British Columbia in western Canada to New Mexico in the southwestern part of the U.S. They lie in the Canadian provinces of British Columbia and Alberta as well as the U.S. states of Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Utah, Colorado and New Mexico.
