Queen Victoria belonged to which of these royal houses?
Victoria (Alexandrina Victoria; 24 May 1819 – 22 January 1901) was Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland from 20 June 1837 until her death. On 1 May 1876, she adopted the additional title of Empress of India.
Her reign of 63 years and seven months was longer than that of any of her predecessors and is known as the Victorian era. It was a period of industrial, cultural, political, scientific, and military change within the United Kingdom, and was marked by a great expansion of the British Empire. She was the last British monarch of the House of Hanover. Her son and successor, Edward VII, initiated the House of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, the line of his father.

And in 1917, George V (Queen Victoria’s grandson) changed their House name from ‘Saxe-Coburg & Gotha’ to ‘Windsor’, because the former belied the fact they were German and that wasn’t a very popular thing to be in the UK at that time!

Steve Johnston, Actually, in the interests of historical accuracy, Fawkes was trying to blow up the House of Lords, not the Houses of Parliament - and his aim in doing that was to assassinate King James I. Democracy didn't exist in 1605 - 97% of the population had no voting rights, political power was in the hands of the aristocracy and it remained that way for nearly another 300 years.

Derrick Johnston, I'd say James Clausen's view is very far from narrow minded - if anything, it's the English education system which ignores facts. The Crimes of England are well documented everywhere - except, apparently, in the history books of the English Curriculum.

For historical accuracy, Guido Fawkes was intent on destroying the Houses of Parliament, the majority of whom were elected MP’s not the gentry. In this way it could be seen his intent was to destroy democracy.
