Robin Williams won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in 1998 for the film "Good Will Hunting" (1997). He received the award at the 70th Academy Awards ceremony which was organized by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and took place in March 1998 at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.

In the film "Good Will Hunting", the story concerns an underdog. Here one man must face his demons and find his own path. Matt Damon as Will Hunting and Robin Williams as Sean Maguire come together. As a therapist, Sean helps the young man (Will) confront demons that are holding him back.
