It has been said that love truly conquers all. In 2017 Taiwan's Constitutional Court banned any law prohibiting two people of the same sex from getting married. Within two years of this decision, the nation's parliament must now align civil code with this decision.

Many people inside and outside of Taiwan hope similar changes will sweep through all of Asia, and some hope the change will be a challenge to China to make changes. Whatever happens throughout the rest of the continent, there's sure to be a few more wedding taking place in the country of Taiwan since the High Court's decision.

Additionally, as is mentioned in the novel, The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks, individuals in Taiwan can now at least say to one another regardless of gender: "The best love is the kind that awakens the soul; that makes us reach for more, that plants the fire in our hearts and brings peace to our minds. That’s what I hope to give you forever."
