In the Christian Standard Bible, there are actually no biblical passages where God transforms stone to bread, although He gets great recognition for bringing forth "all food from the Earth" in Psalms 104. In Matthew 4, however, the Devil comes to Jesus Christ in the desert after he’s been fasting for 40 days, and trying to tempt Christ, tells him that he should change the stones into bread. Jesus was at that point being asked to prove or demonstrate that he (Jesus) was the Son of God through miraculous works (the transformation of stones to bread).

Jesus Christ spurns the devil with the aphorism “Man shall not live on bread alone.” The Bible therefore seems to be against turning stone into bread (not that it comes up anyway as an option in most people’s lives). When Jesus refused to give in to the devil’s temptation, it wasn’t that He did not want to eat. In fact, He was more than happy to eat what the angels brought to Him when the time of testing was over (Matthew 4:11). It wasn’t a matter of refusing supernatural help. Rather, it was a matter of obedience to God and submitting to God's will in all things at all times.
