The Don Sphynx or Donskoy cat is native to which country ?

This hairless breed started in 1987. It is not related to the hairless breed of cat the Sphynx, also known as the Canadian hairless, whose characteristic hairlessness is caused by a recessive gene, whereas the Don Sphynx hairlessness is caused by a dominant gene.The Don Sphynx was first officially recognized by World Cat Federation (WCF) in 1997.The Don Sphynx is known as a Donskoy in the USA. The name was changed when it was accepted into TICA (The International Cat Association) in 2005. The cat was accepted into CFF (Cat Fanciers Federation) in 2014 and now has reached Championship status in both federations in the United States.

I am neither a cat lover nor expert, but the explanation seems to answer the objections of a few commenters. The breed is already acknowledged as different from the Sphinx breed, hence the designation “Don Sphinx.” Some of us are so intent on finding fault that we don’t read the explanation. The same names keep showing up complaining, which says more about them than those who submit the questions!

This is INACCURATE. Actually the donskoy is Russian the Sphinx is Canadian the first being born in the 1960s. .

As it says in the article, the breed started in 1987 in Russia with a single kitten. I prefer my cats with fur, but I wouldn't turn this one away. I only hope that enough homes can be found that will see to their warmth.
