The Everly Brothers sang "Wake up Little Susie". When did Little Susie eventually wake up?
The legendary Everly Brothers were an American rock and roll duo whose music was influenced by country music. The brothers were known for their steel-string acoustic guitar playing and close harmony singing. Isaac Donald "Don" Everly and Phillip "Phil" Jason Everly were born into a musical family and began their career by appearing on radio singing with their father Ike Everly and mother Margaret Everly.
Their first hit single written by Felice and Boudleaux Bryant, "Bye Bye Love", was released in 1957. A string of hits were to follow, many written by the Bryants including "Wake up Little Susie" which has the lyrics:
Wake up, little Susie, wake up
Wake up, little Susie, wake up
We've both been sound asleep, wake up, little Susie, and weep
The movie's over, it's four o'clock, and we're in trouble deep
Wake up little Susie
Wake up little Susie, well
Little Susie woke at four o'clock when the movie was over.
