The facial image of which United States President is the tallest on Mount Rushmore?
There are 4 granite U.S. Presidential faces on Mount Rushmore. They are all at least 60-feet tall. The head of George Washington is 60 feet, one or two inches tall with a nose that is 21 feet tall. The head of Thomas Jefferson is an inch or two taller than Washington's. Theodore Roosevelt's head is slightly smaller than Jefferson's head. Abraham Lincoln has a head that is slightly taller than all the others.
The monumental faces are on the southeastern face of Mount Rushmore in South Dakota's Black Hills National Forest, USA. The carved sculptures were dedicated over a 9 year period. Washington’s head was dedicated in 1930, Jefferson’s in 1936, Lincoln’s in 1937, and Roosevelt’s in 1939.
Experts say Mount Rushmore (Mount Rushmore National Memorial), which is known as the “Shrine of Democracy”, was built to tell the great story of America's birth, prosperity, development, and preservation. Each president chosen for the memorial had a role in preserving or expanding the USA.
George Washington (1732 –1799) was the first President of the USA. He had incredible influence on the formation of the country. Thomas Jefferson (1743 –1826), the third U.S. President, had visions of America that made him very influential. Theodore Roosevelt (1858 – 1919), the 26th U.S. President, had an energetic persona which caused the country to expand. Abraham Lincoln (1809 –1865), the 16th U.S. President, led the country through a Civil War and successfully ended slavery in America.
