The flag of what US state incorporates the Confederate battle flag in its design?

The flag of the state of Mississippi was first adopted by the U.S. state of Mississippi in April 1894, replacing the unofficial flag that had been adopted in 1861 when Mississippi was a Confederate state. The flag was subsequently repealed in 1906 but remained in de facto use. When a referendum failed for a new design in April 2001, the state legislature voted to readopt the historic design that same month. Since Georgia adopted a new state flag in 2003, the Mississippi flag is the only U.S. state flag to include the Confederate battle flag's saltire.

Hitler was part of Germany's history, but they don't have statues of Hitler there.

Mark Ann Dubaz, You don't have to erase your history to be sensitive to 36.33% of the state's population, who are always reminded of the slavery of their ancestors because of a selfish reluctance to give up a reminder of racism and a symbol of treason to the USA. Teach your history in schools, but give up holding onto a symbol of disunity and racism. That canton on your flag represents a regiment which fought for a distinctly separate, beaten and now nonexistent country. It's time to move on and become more inclusive. You are part of the USA now.

I live in Mississippi. It’s part of our history. You can’t wipe history away by simply removing a symbol. We all need to learn the good and bad of what history teaches us.

Philip Stoneburner, those who don't know history are doomed to repeat it. Stop comparing the south to Hitler's Germany. There were a lot of Northern racists and southern abolitionists. Ever here of the underground railroad?

tdelisi, Our founding fathers committed treason against England and the crown in order for the United States to become what we are. And yet, we celebrate Independence day and Presidents day. Slavery and the civil war are a part of this nation's history whether or not you can agree with the reasons. Removing statues or landmarks or changing flags will not change the history. Learning from it is the only way to change it. Enough said. Stepping if my soap box now.

No longer true. They re-designed the flag this year and dropped the stars and bars, replaced by a large magnolia flower.

Philip Stoneburner, because they're was nothing good that he had done. And he killed people! The issue in America is that the statues here are of people who have done great accomplishments that have helped people. Some of them, along the way, made certain mistakes. That's where learning our history is important. Come on, George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, they weren't killers. To compare any of our statues to Hitler to justify destroying ours isn't a valid point.
