Back in the early 1950's I asked my mother what our ethnic background was (I know, we didn't use 'ethnic' back then, but I can't remember how I phrased it). Anyway, she immediately answered, "Heinz 57."

I toured a Heinz factory in Pittsburgh when I was 8. They gave us a little lunch and everything was a Heinz product.

According to the Smithsonian, there never were 57 varieties exactly. At the time of the slogan they were ready selling 60 different products already. Heinz saw a sign advertising 21 varieties of shoes and liked the way it looked, so using his and his wife's favourite numbers, he settled on 57.

I knew Heinz 57 but with the early date I didn't realize it had been known as Heinz 57 as early as that, just didn't know the history.

I was born 1950 not far from the town of Leamington Ontario CA ...Heinz factory was there. We used 57 Heinz to describe a mixture, a mishmash or a mongrel for instance. I’m French English Scottish Spanish etc...I refer to myself as 57 Heinz🤣🤣🤣🤣
