The building’s official name is the “Lilla Bommen” but it is commonly referred to by the people of Gothenburg as ‘The Lipstick’ (Läppstiftet). It is notable for its red and white colouring.

It is an 86 m (282 ft) high post-modern high-rise with 22 floors situated in the Lilla Bommen district of central Gothenburg (Göteborg) Sweden.

Gothenburg is the second-largest city in Sweden and is the capital of the Västra Götaland County. It is situated on the west coast of Sweden, and has a population of approximately 580,000 in the urban area and about 1 million inhabitants in the metropolitan area.

The building was completed in 1989, and has 27,596 m² (297,040 sq ft) of office space, 2,501 m² (26,920 sq ft) of shopping space and 1,528 m² (16,450 sq ft) for other functions. It is owned by the Vasakronan real estate company.

It is possible to take an elevator to the top floor viewpoint known as "The Gothenburg Lookout" (GötheborgsUtkiken). From here there are spectacular views of the harbour, the archipelago, the city and the Opera House.

There are several other names for the "Lille Bommen" building namely "The Skanska Skyscraper" (Skanskaskrapan), "The Water Level" (Vattenståndet) and "The Lego House" (Legohuset) . This Post-Modern tower is a unique example of its style of architecture, designed by Ralph Erskine.
