The man who designed the original VW Beetle for Hitler later founded which car company?
Ferdinand Porsche is an icon of the auto industry, having designed many trend setting cars. Porsche was born 3 September 1875, in what today is the Czech Republic, but was part of the Austro-Hungarian empire at that time.
Porsche's most famous car design would be the Volkswagen Beetle, which was Hitler's people's car. Porsche did other design work for the Nazi government during WW2, including work on Tanks and the V-1 flying bomb.
Porsche working from Stuttgart Germany eventually formed the Porsche car company which built a reputation for high performance Sports Cars.
Porsche was inducted into the International Motorsports Hall of Fame in 1996 and won Car Engineer of the Century in 1999.
Ferdinand Porsche died 30 January 1951 at the age of 75.
