The Town of Wasaga Beach, Ontario, Canada, is located on the shores of Georgian Bay at the mouth of the Nottawasaga River, about 40 km (25 mi) northwest of Barrie. Wasaga Beach is the world's longest freshwater beach. The 14 km (8.6 mile) Wasaga Beach is part of a Provincial Park, with the beach divided into eight areas, each with change facilities, washrooms, picnic tables, etc. Over two million people enjoy this beach each summer. The name was derived from the Nottawasaga River.

Wasaga Beach entered history's headlines in 1934. It was the site of departure for the first overseas flight from mainland Canada across the Atlantic to England. A plane called the Trail of the Caribou used Wasaga Beach's long, flat, sandy beach as a take-off strip.

The incorporation of the Town of Wasaga Beach became effective January 1, 1974. The permanent population stood at 4,034, a dramatic increase from 1965, when 500 people were residents. In the early 21st century, the town has 20,665 full-time residents and 16,000 seasonal and part-time residents.

Tourism continues to dominate the local economy. In recent years the town has developed more of a year-round community, as many residents commute to work elsewhere, and there has been a boom in residential construction. Wasaga Beach Provincial Park, with its beaches, dunes and trails, is located within the town's boundaries.
