To mark Queen Elizabeth's visit to facilitate Sierra Leone's much-awaited independence in 1961, a Royal Train was built in the Freetown workshops. Due to a schedule change at the last minute, the Royal Train wasn't used at all during her trip, and it languished in the workshops for 40 years. In that time, and during the civil war refugee occupation of the building, the vehicle was damaged.

But now, the world's only Royal Train which has never carried royalty is being restored.

The picture comes from the Sierra Leone National Railway Museum - the website is well worth a visit.
