We all know what "G'Day Mate" means in Aussie Slang but what about "Chucking a Sickie"?
To chuck a sickie, is to ring up your boss and say you are unwell when you are perfectly well. This is done on sunny days, to go to the beach instead of going to work. It can also be to go to the horse races, football, out with friends, or even when you are hung over from drinking too much the night before.
Other reasons to "chuck a sickie" can include but not limited to
- having a 3 day weekend,
- a quiet day at home alone,
- a pamper day with your gal pals,
- a pot & parmy down the local,
- to attend a child's sports carnival
- a day date with the Mrs & no kids
- a well deserved mental health day just because you can.
