Frank Zappa made his mark by not being the normal one. His music was avant-garde and his life was also cutting edge. As such, when he fathered children, those children took on a bit of the persona of his wife, Gail, and him. His explanation was that since he knew each child was unique, their names could also show that uniqueness.

At this point, Dweezil is the only one playing his dad's music. Some copyright infringement battles occurred, but Dweezil now plays under his own full name.

The full names, in birth order, are Moon Unit, Dweezil, Ahmet Emuukha Rodan, and Diva Thin Muffin Pigeen.
