What band got its name from a character in the science fiction film, "Barbarella"?

The group Duran Duran appropriated their name from the character Dr. Durand Durand in the 1968 film, Barbarella. In 1978 this Rock band, Duran Duran regularly performed in their hometown (Birmingham, England) in a club called Barbarella's, after the film of that name which starred Jane Fonda.

In this film directed by Roger Vadim, it is takes place in the 40th century. Barbarella is assigned by the President of Earth to retrieve Doctor Durand Durand from the planet So Go. If she is able to complete this assignment, the Earth will be saved. Beyond this premise, the plot is loose. It works mostly as an excuse for Barbarella to end up in erotic situations.

Today many fans of the band Duran Duran solely believe that the movie still enjoys some limited success because of its key association with this pseudomature and very well known band.
