Fanta was invented in Nazi Germany during World War II due to a trade embargo on importing Coca-Cola syrup. The head of Coca-Cola Deutschland decided to create a new product for the German market during the war, using ingredients available in Germany at the time, including whey and apple pomace. They held a competition to name the new orange soda, saying “use your imagination”; the German translation of ‘imagination’, is ‘fantasie’ and in that moment a German salesman, Joe Knipp came up with the name Fanta.

This is a poorly worded question which inplies the brand was invented by the Nazi government of Germany..The brand, Fanta, was NOT invented BY the Nazis but was invented by Coca-Cola, an American company, doing business inside Nazi Germany during World War II. They needed something to replace the dearth of Coca Cola syrup in order to preserve that division of their business. Fanta is American; developed to maintain their sales in Germany during the war.

Andrew Allan, Coke is in the business of soft drinks and alcohol additives not politics. Right or wrong coke did not make any decisions of the then German state any more than the one in place now.
