What colored part of the human eye controls how much light passes through the pupil?
The iris is a ring of muscles, located within the colored part of the human eye. The iris controls the process of expansion or constriction of the pupil, which is just a hole in the center of it. That is happening in dependence to the amount of the light coming into the eye. So, when the pupil is expanding or contracting, all the job is done by the iris. Each person has a different iris, which have even more unique characteristics than a finger print (40 compared to 256).

Linda Regalado, I’m with you, the pupil. When you go to the eye doctor you have to wear special glasses because the PUPILS are dilated, not the iris.

Light enters the eye via the cornea (the clear outer layer of front of the pupil), but the iris (the colored part of the eye) is what controls the AMOUNT of light that enters the vitreous humor (via the pupil) within the eye. The cornea does not actually "LET" light enter the eye. As it is clear and is just "there," light rays shine through it, barring any internal or external physical barrier.
