What does M&M stand for on the little pieces of candy?

Since 1941 when their chocolate candies were introduced to American GI's serving during World War II to the present day M&Ms have been an iconic part of our daily lives. They have given great pleasure to many people of all ages and all over the world. The founders of this famous brand name are Forrest Mars and Bruce Murrie. Therein, of course, lies the answer to the question “what does M&M stand for.”

I think everyone that participates is this little trivia game everyday would be amused to see how much information one retained at the end of any given week. In other words ,every seven days you would be given the questions of the past week . It would be enlightening to see how much information we retained ,and if you/we actually read the details of the correct answers ,how much had we actually learned , as opposed to just knowing the correct answer ... Agreed ?

Brazil now imports M & Ms. As in America, they are all the rage and quite expensive. They are considered delecacies here so are used as decaration for cakes as well as for consumption by chocolate lovers. I brought three one pound bags to my Brazilian niece and she did a 50/50 split (decorated 4 cakes and ate the rest (which she lovingly shared with the family-including me. By the way, I am American but was raised the son of a missionary. Brazil is the land of my heart. My land, my people.

I learned this from The Food that Made America, a show on the History Channel. Mars was obvious, but Murrie worked for Hershey for years before joining up with Mars.

Andrew Mullineaux, no M & M are better than smarties tried them in England and Austrailia and the coating tastes like chalk My Opinion but had many Non USA friends that always liked M&M’s better

When my children were small, they called them many M's. My daughter went on many horse drawn weekends with the like of no other than Jackie Mars. A wonder woman, and heir to Mars candie company.

Andrew Mullineaux, in the USA smarties are different colored sweet n sour candy, rolled in plastic with a twist on the ends. M & Ms have always been chocolate, "melt in your mouth, not in your hand"
