What does the term salary cap mean?
In professional sports salary cap (or wage cap) is an agreement or rule that places a limit on the amount of money that a team can spend on players' salaries. It exists as a per-player limit or a total limit for the team's roster, or both. Several sports leagues have implemented salary caps, using it to keep overall costs down, and also to maintain a competitive balance by restricting richer clubs from entrenching dominance by signing many more top players than their rivals.
Salary caps can be a major issue in negotiations between league management and players' unions, and have been the focal point of several strikes by players and lockouts by owners and administrators.

Its players and not player. They can pay a player as much as they want but must keep the sum of all players under the cap limit.Also not sport exclusive.

I worked for a company that had a salary cap for a while. The term means there is a limit on the high end wage that can be paid to an employee. (not just in sports)

ITS PLAYERS, not it's player. The salary cap is applied to a team's salaries, not those of one individual.

I agree with Carole Benner and the others. A salary cap is not exclusive to sports. Almost every company has a set limit on how much a person can make. They all have a salary cap.
