What food is Maryland best known for?
Many localities on Earth are commonly associated with their foods. Maryland, for example, is best known for the blue crab, the bountiful delicacy of the Chesapeake Bay.
Blue Crab can be found almost in any part of the Atlantic Ocean, but fishermen from many countries ignore it because the process of its cooking is rather complicated. However, in Maryland, this crab is very popular food and a significant part of income for many fishing companies.
Interestingly, this species is really of bluish color thanks to special pigments contained in its carapace.

Also, I love Crab Cakes for Breakfast. Eggs Benedict w/ Crab Cakes & Champagne and Orange Juice. My Great Uncle, Bill Spinner was Head Chef at the Hershey Hotel in the 1940's. He had his own restaurant in the '50s. In 1957 my Dad was transferred to Pease AFB in New Hampshire. That's when I was introduced to that wonderful breakfast combination. I was 9 yrs. old.

I grew up on the other side of the Chesapeake Bay, in Virginia Beach, Va. Hampton Roads area of Virginia shares the Chesapeake Bay with Maryland. BOTH states stake claim to that magnificent crab!

We used to go to Eastern shore Maryland and camped. Spent all day catching the crabs and halp of the nite we ate them. They were very good in spaghetti.

Maryland is no the only place Blue Crab is found as South East Tidewater is the heart land of these fine eateries introducing steam and battered fried blue crab. We called the packing of our blue crab meat nick named devil crab cause it so helluva good

Loved going to Popes Creek in Maryland for their crab 🦀 feasts and eating until you thought you’d burst!! The restaurant isn’t fancy (brown paper) covering the tables but the 🦀 are outstanding.
