The binturong, also known as a Bearcat, is a shy, shaggy-haired mammal from Southeast Asia. Found from India to Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam. This animal is categorised as 'vulnerable' and its population has declined by over 30% since the 1980s, mainly due to habitat loss.

Perhaps the strangest characteristic it has is the smell of hot buttered popcorn that it emits. The animal's musk glands release an odor reminiscent of popcorn due to the volatile chemical compound known as 2-acetyl-1-pyrroline in the urine chemical that it produces.

Binturongs are primarily arboreal, meaning they spend most of their lives in trees, with an estimated lifespan of 25 years. It can be active during the day and the night and has an omnivorous diet, mostly consisting of insects, fruit, fish and small mammals/birds.
