What is a European Kitchen Witch?
The Kitchen Witch is a tradition that started in Scandinavia or Germany, but it is observed in most of Western Europe. The tradition involves hanging a doll or puppet of a witch in the kitchen of your home. The doll is said to protect the home from evil. Tradition says that nobody but the home owner should touch the witch doll or her protection spell will be broken. Witch dolls can be found for sale in most European city markets.

I rec'd one as a wedding present. Got rid of the husband, kept the witch. Guess it works.

Also when my daughter from Germany gave me mine she said the witch had to be a a gift to you, not purchased by yourself.

Bought one in Prague market because it looked just like my wife. At least, That's what I told her. The bruises faded after a few days!😁

Had a good friend crochet me a kitchen witch. It's supposed to keep you from burning your dinner. Hah! I guess she doesn't watch over garlic bread or grilled cheese sandwiches.

I've never seen one in UK, France, Italy, Spain or Switzerland.
I'm willing to accept it's a tradition which may be observed in most of the rest of Western Europe, although I'm unaware of it being that widespread; but it's definitely misleading for the answer to state "it is observed in most of Western Europe".
