What is a Jägerbomb?

The Jägerbomb is a bomb shot. A bomb shot, depth charge, or drop shot, is a mixed drink that is made by mixing two drinks. A drink in a small glass is dropped into a larger glass holding a different drink. The resulting cocktail is typically consumed as quickly as possible. A Jägerbomb was originally mixed by dropping a shot of Jägermeister into a glass of beer. Jägermeister is a digestif made with 56 herbs and spices at a strength of 35% alcohol by volume(70 proof in the United States). It is the flagship product of Mast-Jägermeister.

Later, beer was replaced by Red Bull or other energy drinks. The alcohol and caffeine mixture has been scrutinized with prepackaged drinks in 2015 in the United States on some products that include caffeine as well as alcohol. The ban was discussed as a result of multiple cases of alcohol poisoning and alcohol related blackouts among users of such drinks. The majority of these alcohol poisoning cases were found on college campuses throughout the United States.

I drank a lot of jagermeister when I was stationed in Germany...'77-79...went on the wagon in '80...fell off in '82...all the way to'91 before the wagon reappeared...that's my aa for this week...

The drink that this morphed from was called a 'boilermaker' 50 years ago. Made by dropping a shot of whiskey into a pint of beer, and consumed ASAP. I don't think Jagermeister was well known, if it existed at all that long ago. 8-)

Jägermeister started off as a cough & cold remedy & has since morphed into the liquor. Now...the only reason I knew the answer to this is because Jägermeister is the main sponsor our local Oktoberfest!!

My younger son is now 28, but “back in his day” I learned what a jägerbomb was.

While working for a good liquor chain of stores, we sold alot of Jagermeister and red bull...mostly to a younger crowd. I remember as a child living in the UK, my uncle who owned a pub/tavern made me a "hot tottie" made with Jagermeister, it was cheaper than most of the whiskeys.
