What is hotter, the center of the earth or surface of the sun?
A team of scientists have now made the most accurate measurement of Earth's core temperature to date and their results show that it's over 1,000 degrees hotter than they previously thought. It's even hotter than the surface of the Sun. They now believe the temperature to be around 6,000 °C plus or minus 500 degrees.

I just looked it up on the internet and was told the sun is clearly hotter than the center of the earth. 10,000 for the sun and the earth is 6000 so who and what is right. This is a bad question because no one seems to agree.

Both are assumptions which could be wrong.Logically Sun has to be hotter because Earth gets its heat from the Sun.

Seeing how around 65% of people (myself included) answered this question with "The Surface of the Sun", I'd say majority rules as no one really knows for sure.

ruth lund, the sun itself is hotter, yes, but nit the surface. Just like the surface of the Earth is much cooler than the center, so is the surface of the sun much cooler than the center. The question compares SURFACE of Sol to CENTER of Earth. That's how it gets you.

Neither true nor false is correct as new measurements suggest the Earth's inner core is far hotter than prior experiments suggested, putting it at 6,000C - as hot as the Sun's surface.
