What is marzipan?
Marzipan is a confection which consists of almond paste usually sweetened with honey or sugar. It may also be augmented with almond oil or extract. Marzipan is widely used in baking, as it is good for creating small imitations of fruits, vegetables and other objects, such as animals or flowers. It can also be a cake ingredient. Marzipan is usually made into sweets, serving as a great filling.

Wendy and James. The answer is correct. I eat marzipan constantly when I travel to Europe and it is ALWAYS sweetened. Your insistance that it is not is simply not true in my extensive experience. Sometimes I think this site exists for no other reason than for people to be contradictory.

I don't think I have seen one question that did not create a stir with someone thinking it is wrong, unfair, poorly worded or something. I thought this was supposed to be fun trivia but some people are just too angry.

The quiz states it primarily consists of ALMOND PASTE sweetened with honey or sugar.
How is the answer wrong?

I can never make those little marzipan fruit and veggie shapes because every time I buy the almond paste, I eat it before I have a chance to use it for its intended purpose. :-)

In England, marzipan is an almond paste which is usually placed on the top of a fruit cake, and then covered with white icing. Christmas cakes are traditionally done like this.

100g Mandeln (almonds), 100g Puderzucker (powder sugar), 1/2 P. Vanillezucker (vanilla sugar) and ca. 20 ml Rosenwasser (Apotheke) (rosewater-drugstore),
now you have marzipan

Perhaps James and Wendy, you are in error and now realize it?
For once, Quiz Club is correct. There is nothing in error in this quiz. Trust me on this, my Ancestors are Armenian. We know these things. Marzipan is similar (not the same) as Halva (sesame paste and honey a and/or sugar).

James--you may want to re-read the answer. It is exactly correct. Almond paste, sweetener, like honey or sugar. That is what makes it stiff enough to mold into the fruit shapes shown. I make it every Christmas.

They don't know what marzipan is!!!! Marzipan is almond paste used in many different ways including candy, baking, etc. They pictured a bowl of marzipan fruits-- it is often used to make decorative things like little fruits or nuts-- edible decoration. But it is NOT a mixture of sugar and honey as the Quizz states

Jody Porter, I suspect that the criticism and adverse comments are mostly from people who answered incorrectly.

aaustin, marzipan scented bubble bath is just perverse. Like strawberry or peach toiletries. As perverse as eating soap!

Good question and answer, though I do find it strange how all these knowledgeable people keep finding so called faults but never do I see them sending in any Trivia Questions.

It's a good question about a sweet that many people have not heard of in 2020. It was much easier to find in the last century. I like the little fruit that is displayed in the picture. It's the most commonly used to represent Marzipan. I happen to have a bubble bath with this fragrance.
