What is Mensa?

Mensa is a large high IQ society that provides a forum for intellectual exchange among its members. Participants of Mensa come from more than a hundred countries around the world. Mensa is the oldest and best known society of a kind, and nowadays it has more than 120 thousand members.

Mensa members exchange their ideas and share opinions through different group activities, local gatherings and international meetings as well. It includes lectures, discussions and periodic publications. Mensa researchers get all the necessary help from experts and other members of the society.

To join Mensa a person has to attain a score within the upper two percent of the general population on an approved intelligence test. The process of taking the test is to be properly administered and supervised.

I have come across Mensa members and although they brag how smart they are, they sure have no common sense and are afraid to experience real life, not just being able to finish the Sunday NY Times crossword puzzle in an hour.

I was a Mensa member for several years some time back, and I've met some amazing people and got to see things I otherwise wouldn't have, had I not joined. Just as within society in general, in Mensa you meet all sorts of people from all sorts of backgrounds, with just as much variation in personalities, quirks, and outlooks as anywhere else. Only small-minded people would write off an entire group of people based on experiences with one or two.

My former inlaws proport to be members and give each other Mensa books at Christmas, but like you, they have ZERO common sense. Don't know when to come in outa the rain!

I suspect a goodly number if not all of Quizzclub members are members, ex-members or definitely eligible. But in the end so what? 2% of the world is an awful lot of people who are eligible. Me, who cares? but you can see my Quizzclub record any time - just Click! ROFL!
