The Capulets and Montagues have a long history of bad blood in Shakespeare's famous play, "Romeo and Juliet." While most people know the titular lovers, the characters' families are just as important to the story. Interestingly, no other character in the play has both a first and last name.

Romeo's parents are only identified as Montague and Lady Montague, while everyone else is given a first name, or a formal title, like Prince Escalus and Friar Laurence. Like most things in Shakespearean dramas, this is likely a deliberate choice to further drive home the importance of the two major families in this star-crossed tragedy.
