What is Talisker?

Talisker is a premium Scotch whisky, known as an 'island single malt'. It comes from the only distillery on the Isle of Skye, on the west coast of Scotland.

Talisker typically has a distinctive smoky aroma that marks it out from other island single malts. Talisker whiskies have generally performed very well at international Spirit ratings competitions. The 10-, 18-, 25- and 30-year Taliskers have been awarded mostly gold medals from the San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

The Talisker is one of the best Scotch Whiskeys produced on the West coast of Scotland. Whiskey is distilled and then if it is of sufficiently quality is matured in oak casks for the number of years on the label. There is always a certain amount of volume of whisky lost by evaporation, called the Angles share, and this makes the Whisky taste different from any other Whisky.Some of the whisky is blended with other whisky and therefore cannot be sold as a single malt whisky. Whisky is sold for around £15 for a cheeper blended malt to many hundreds of £s for a great aged single malt. Your bank balance and taste should be all that counts when you choose a whisky
