We all know gold as one of the brightest representatives of the "noble metals" group (In Latin, gold - aurum). But why are these metals called so? Noble metals got the pompous name because they are rarely found in the pure form and, obviously, due to the beautiful glimmer. Platinum, silver and gold are known for the good ductility while all the other noble metals are famous for the refractory quality.

But, for sure, a thousand years ago people appreciated gold mostly due its eye-filling color and glitter.
