What is the chemical symbol for iron?
Did you know that iron is one of the Earth's most abundant metals? Nevertheless, pure iron is rarely found: in most cases it appears to be the part of iron-nickel compounds.
It's an interesting fact that some ancient civilizations considered iron even more precious than gold. Iron accessories were found in some Egyptian tombs while in some other African countries the price of one pound of iron was equal to ten pounds of gold!

The Egyptians came to know iron the hard way. They were a bronza age civilisation, and were conquered by the Hitites, who used iron swords and shields that cut through bronze like butter. The Hitites are a lost civilisation, they probably mingled with the conquered Egyptians. Betsheba's husband, whom David had killed, was a Hitite mercenary in the service of the Hebrew king.

Todd Van Dell, good logic. Ferrous means your supplements contained iron with a +2 charge. Ferric iron on the other hand has a +3 charge.

I guessed Fe because the iron supplements I used to take for my anemia were Ferrous Sulfate and later Ferrous Gluconate.
Fe was the only abbreviation that fit.
