What is the largest city in Alaska by population?
Anchorage, Alaska, is home to over 40% of the total population of the state. More than 310 thousand people live there now, which makes Anchorage the most populous city of the 49th state.
According to the latest U.S. Census, Anchorage has more than 117,332 households and 90,894 families residing within the municipality. The population density is about 180.2 per square mile. The average household size is 3.4 people and the average family size is just about 4.2 individuals. Visitors usually come to the city to enjoy its powerful views and landscapes: six mountain ranges are seen from the city, as well as Mount McKinley, the tallest mountain of North America.

I've visited Fairbanks twice and stayed several months both times. That's how I know the answer wasn't Fairbanks. I went to Anchorage twice and it's beautiful there. It's a 6 hr drive from Fairbanks.

I can remember being on a British Airways flight from Tokyo via Anchorage to Heathrow (no longer one of their routes) and going up the Jetway at Anchorage and seeing a huge stuffed polar bear - and boy are they big. It must have been a male bear. Great view of Anchorage on landing and take-off and going over the whole province
