What is the least common hair color in the world?
Red hair ranges from light strawberry blond shades to titian, copper and less commonly "true" red. It is caused by a variation in the Mc1r gene and is recessive. Red hair has the highest amounts of pheomelanin, around 67%, and usually low levels of eumelanin. At 1-2% of the population, it is the least common hair color in the world. It is most prominently found in Scotland, Ireland and England. Scotland has the highest proportion of redheads; 13 percent of the population has red hair and approximately 40 percent carries the recessive redhead gene.

My husband's family has many "true red" heads. His mother had black hair (Native American ancestry) so his hair wasn't red but his father, grandfather, grandmother, 3 uncles, aunt, and many cousins are red-heads. Not auburn - red!

Got it right because I ignored Auburn which is defined as a type of red hair. I don't think it belongs in the list of main hair colours. It should not have been included

Most Red Hair people I know have blue eyes, my son is Red Hair with brown eyes, appears to be very few of them. Comes from my mother's aunt, but then all my children had different coloured hair, red, black, brown and blonde, Father light brown and me black, go figure.
