What is the longest river in the Iberian Peninsula that flows through Spain and Portugal?
The Iberian Peninsula is located in the southwest corner of Europe. This is principally divided between Spain and Portugal.
The major rivers that flow through the wide valleys between the mountain systems are the Ebro, Douro, Tagus, Guadiana and Guadalquivir. The Tagus is the longest river in the Iberian Peninsula. It flows westwards with its lower course in Portugal. The Guadiana river bends southwards and forms the border between Spain and Portugal in the last stretch of its course.
The Spain occupies most of the Iberian peninsula and Portugal occupies most of the west of the Iberian peninsula. It also includes Andorra, France (north eastern edge), Gibraltar (South Coast).
The Tagus passes through the main cities Aranjuez, Toledo,Talaverra de la Reima and Alcantara in Spain, and Abrantes, Santarem, Almada and Lisbon in Portugal.
