September 9th is the most common birthday in the world.
This date has an average of 12,301 people born on this day.
So why is September 9th such a popular birthday? One reason for this phenomenon is that most people seem to conceive in December, perhaps due to holiday mistletoe kissing! And of course those babies are born nine months later in September.
Also the colder months can lead to a lot of undercover snuggling..

I used to work in the maternity ward of a hospital, and I can vouch without a doubt, that September is the busiest birth month EVERY YEAR! 🎯

teacherchicky, but while that may be true for the USA, the question asked about the world. China, India, Indonesia etc. produce as enormous number of children and Christmas barely features in those countries. It isn't obvious to me why September should be such a common time for births globally.

There is certainly more than 12301 born on September 9. There are about 140 million people born every year as of 2022, that works out to around 385000 born on an average day in the world.

David Roy, certainly the day, September 9th, is not world wide, but surprisingly, studies have shown that the month of September has the most births in almost every country. In some countries the trend extends into October.

David Roy, studies of births in Asia, Africa, Russia, Middle East and South America have shown that in the month of September, there are more births than in other months. Maybe more to do with New Year holidays making births more likely in last days of September.

I was born on 9/2 and my niece on 9/9, and it was a joke that she had the most common birthday. 385000 people born on average every day world wide, and 10k in the US. Questions needs to be corrected.
