Oprah Winfrey (b. 1954) is an American talk show host, television producer, actress, author and philanthropist. She is best known for her talk show, "The Oprah Winfrey Show", which was the highest-rated television show of its kind in history. The showed aired for 25 years from 1986 to 2011.

Founded by Oprah Winfrey, Harpo Productions (also referred to as Harpo Studios) is a multimedia production company based in Chicago, Illinois. She had the studio built in 1990, three and a half years after "The Oprah Winfrey Show" went national. Winfrey took ownership of the show's production so that she could be her own boss and have her own space, separate from her former bosses at WLS-TV in Chicago.

As of 2020, it currently ranks as the most successful producer in daytime talk shows, with "The Oprah Winfrey Show", "The Dr. Oz Show" and "The Nate Berkus Show", as well as having developed "Dr. Phil" and "Rachael Ray".

In addition, Harpo (Oprah spelled backwards) creates and produces original television programming for broadcast, syndication and cable. Most recently, Harpo Productions produces shows for OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network. These shows include "Super Soul Sunday", "Oprah Prime", "Where Are They Now", among others.

As of 2014, Winfrey had a net worth estimated in excess of US$2.9 billion and is generally regarded as the wealthiest self-made woman in America at this time.
