George Slate was Fred Flintstones boss on the TV show "The Flintstones" (1960 - 1966). Mr. Slate is in fact both Fred and Barney's hot-tempered boss at the gravel pit. He is a boss who fires Fred on several occasions throughout the TV series, only to give him his job back by the end of the episode.

"The Flintstones" is an American animated sitcom that was produced by Hanna-Barbera Productions. The series takes place in a romanticized Stone Age setting. It greatly follows the activities of the title family, the Flintstones, and their next-door neighbors, the Rubbles (who are best friends to the Flintstones). The show was originally broadcast on ABC from September 30, 1960 to April 1, 1966. It was the first animated series to hold a prime time slot on any major U.S. TV network broadcasting station.

Including Mr. Slate, over 100 other characters appeared throughout the program as it ran for a total of six seasons. In large part, all the supporting cast members with their personae made the show a very big success and a "total fun to enjoy", according to TV pundits who reviewed shows designed as family entertainment for members of all ages.
