What is the name of the diner directly across from the hospital on the TV show "ER"?
"ER" is an American medical drama television series created by novelist and medical doctor Michael Crichton that aired on NBC from September 19, 1994, to April 2, 2009. "ER" follows the inner workings of fictional County General Hospital in Chicago, Illinois and the doctors, nurses, EMT's and other staff in their day to day struggles to keep trauma cases alive.
To facilitate production a large set consisting of a hospital façade, an ambulance bay, and “L” tracks was constructed on the Warner Brothers set in Burbank, CA. Doc Magoo’s diner was later built directly across from the hospital, the after-work hangout of Doug, Mark and the rest of the Cook County General gang. Later in the series the diner became the Jumbo Mart. Many loyal followers of the series complained they missed good old Doc Magoo's for many seasons.
The Jumbo Mart went on to be seen in several subsequent series including both Kash and Grab and Patsy’s Pies on the Showtime hit "Shameless".
