What is the name of the good luck-dragon in the film "The Neverending Story"?
The name of the good luck-dragon in the film "The Neverending Story" is Falkor (German: Fuchur). He is a companion to Atreyu and Bastian, and is the first dragon to appear in the series. Falkor is the only good luck-dragon (German: Glücksdrache) to appear on scene, although five others are mentioned in passing. He helps Atreyu find a cure for the Empress after escaping the web of Ygramul the Many.
Falkor is a character who is seen as very wise, incredibly optimistic, and dignified. He's a friendly sophisticated being from Fantasia. He gives advice to people when they have lost hope/lost faith or have even given up altogether. Mostly during the Nothings destruction of Fantasia, he helps Atreyu who has undertaken a quest to stop The Nothing. Falkor has an attitude that truly comes from his heart; he's proven that his openness to making friends means a lot to everyone he encounters. Falkor in return treasures every friendship he's made; Falkor only makes enemies of those who threaten his friends or Fantasia.
The only thing in Fantasia known to have been hostile to Falkor is Gmork. Falkor really doesn't like to be alone, preferring close company with friends he knows will not betray his open and pure heart.
Directed by Wolfgang Petersen, "The Neverending Story" (1984) film was produced by Bernd Eichinger and Dieter Giessler. Alan Oppenheimer is providing the voices of Falkor, Gmork, and others. It follows a boy given the task of stopping the Nothing, a dark force.
