In the beginning of the show Ricky worked at the Tropicana Club. After several seasons Ricky purchased the club and renamed it Babalu. Using all kinds of disguises, generally with reluctant help from Ethel, Lucy was constantly trying to trick Ricky into letting her perform at the club. Occasionally, she was successful when she disguised herself as one of the dancers, which became some of the funniest episodes in the series.
