What is the name of the Old West lawman Wyatt Earp's sister who survived Wyatt's death in 1929?
Wyatt Earp (March 1848 – January 1929) died in the city of Los Angeles, California. Earp was 80 years old when he died in California. He was survived by his common-law wife (Josephine) and his sister Adelia. He had no children to mourn him.
Adelia Douglas Earp was born on June 16, 1861 in Pella, Iowa. She lived for 78 years and died on January 16, 1941 in San Bernardino, California. She was married to William Thomas Edwards in Rice County, Kansas in 1877. Edwards died before his wife on May 3, 1919 in San Bernardino County, California. Adelia and William had three children: Nicholas Edwards, Estelle Josphine Edwards, and Mary Virginia Edwards.
Adelia was known as a homemaker. She worked at managing her home; she cared for her family by buying, cooking, and storing food for the family. She tried to see to all of the everyday life needs of the family; housekeeping, cleaning, and maintaining the home. Adelia was a true stay-at-home mom.
Earp's female companion (Josephine) did not attend his funeral. Newspapers at the time reported that his friends cried for him during the funeral service. But, "Wyatt's spouse by mutual agreement, Josephine, was not present. She was apparently too full of grief or something to participate."
Wyatt's sister Adelia, one of four sisters, was able to attend and mourn him. Several very close friends (Grace Spolidora, Wilson Mizner, John Clum, and Tom Mix) were present to support Adelia at the funeral.
