Pelé (born October 23, 1940, in Três Corações; real name Edson Arantes do Nascimento, listed as Edison Arantes do Nascimento on his birth certificate) is a former Brazilian football player who also served as Minister of Sport.

] Pelé won a total of 26 national and international titles with FC Santos over 17 years, including ten Campeonato Paulista state championships (1958, 1960, 1961, 1962, 1964, 1965, 1967, 1968, 1969, 1973), four Torneio Rio-São Paulo tournaments (1959, 1963, 1964, 1966), five Taça Brasil tournaments (1961, 1962, 1963, 1964, 1965), two Copa Libertadores (1962, 1963) and two Intercontinental Cups (1962, 1963), and one each of the Torneio Roberto Gomes Pedrosa (1968) and the Supercopa de Campeones Intercontinentales (1968). and the Recopa Intercontinental (1968). He was the top scorer in several tournaments. After transferring to the New York Cosmos in 1975, he won the US soccer championship with his new club (1977).
