Nicosia is the capital of Cyprus. It is the last divided capital in Europe after the fall of the Berlin Wall — a United Nations buffer zone separates the Greek southern part of Cyprus from the Turkish-Cypriots in the north — and it is also the only world capital that follows two time zones.

In the north, the Turkish Cypriot parliament (following the decision of Ankara, Turkey) decided not to turn turn their clocks back by an hour when summer ends. Meanwhile, the Greek Cypriot administration, which is based south of the Green Line, a buffer zone dividing the island, will go back an hour when summer ends. This means the Turkish north will be an hour ahead of the Greek south throughout the winter months.
