In the movie, "Monty Python And the Holy Grail", the wizard's (enchanter's) real name is Myrddin, but people have trouble pronouncing (let alone spelling) it. They call him Tim instead. Also, his formal name could actually be Timothy, but most people, except his mother, prefer to call him Tim.

The only "magic" Tim is ever seen performing consists of setting off large bursts of flame. In actuality he was a really good pyro technician until one day he was working on a movie that required a gigantic explosion. The said blast tore a hole in the space-time continuum and brought Tim back to the middle ages. He showed off his fire trick, everyone mistakes it for "magic". He just decided to go with what the people think.

Tim absolutely plays an important role in "Monty Python and the Holy Grail". He is a guide to the Knights of the Round Table when they all meet up again after having been separated. He tells them of a cave that no man has ever been in; it holds the last words of Joseph of Aramathea.

In the movie, "Monty Python And the Holy Grail", it is obvious that the story is about King Arthur, which is how Tim first recognized him when he saw him in the past.
