What is the shortest distance between two adjacent stations on the London Underground?

The journey between Leicester Square station and Covent Garden takes only about 20 seconds, and measures only 260 metres (0.16 mi), the shortest distance between two adjacent stations on the Underground network. The stations are so close that a pedestrian standing halfway between them on Long Acre can see both tube stations by turning around 180°. The proximity means that London Underground's standard £4.80 single cash fare for the journey between these two stations equates to £29.81 a mile, making the fare for this particular journey more expensive per mile than the Venice Simplon Orient Express. Posters at the station give details of the alternative methods of getting to and from Covent Garden using surrounding stations.

I had to re-read the question as if it had been worded a bit differently the answer would have been Edgware Rd Station, there are two with the same name on different lines, and only 200 m apart, from the web see below: They're adjacent to each other, on different lines with no passage connecting them - yet they share a name. Edgware Road (number 1) is on the Circle, District and Hammersmith and City lines and Edgware Road (number 2) is 200 metres away and runs on the Bakerloo line.

Colin Willmott, though I realise that 260 metres is well achievable to walk, I don't think that the "general" public would catch the tube for such a short distance. One thing I do know, though, is that with " Covent Garden", the last time I went there, there were no escalators, only very crowded elevators or a helix staircase containing about 350 stairs, (I lost count half way up) so you can get your exercise quota for the day walking up there, instead. 😁😁
