Great Danes are known as the tallest dogs in the world. The current record holder as world’s largest dog by height is a black Great Dane named Zeus that is 44 inches tall at the shoulder. The name is chosen right, isn't it? Originally Great Danes were bred as strong hunting dogs. English Mastiffs were crossed with Great Danes' lightweight ancestors to make sturdier dogs. Great Danes come in different colors, from brindle and harlequin to pure blue and black.

Height: 28 to 34 inches. Weight: 100 to 200 pounds.
