The longest bridge in the world, the Danyang-Kushan Grand Bridge in China, is a high-speed railway bridge. It is an impressive 102.4 miles in length. Work on the bridge commenced in 2006, requiring 10,000 construction workers and $8.5 million to complete the project by 2010. In 2011, the railway began operating on the bridge.

The Changhua-Kaohsiung bridge, in Taiwan is the second longest bridge, measuring 97.8 miles in length. A portion of this bridge is also devoted to high-speed railway usage. It runs along the west coast of the island. It opened in 2007.

The Tianjin Grand Bridge is a 70.6 mile long expanse also located in China and used as part of the country’s railway system. This bridge opened in 2011.

The Lake Pontchartrain Bridge is the longest bridge within the USA. It stretches an impressive 23.9 miles. It connects highway commuters in Louisiana. The Guinness Book of World Records has listed this bridge as the longest, 'over water bridge' in the world. Before its construction, people had to cross the lake by ferry.
