What is this cat breed?
The British Longhair is a domestic cat breed originating from England. This medium to large-sized cat is the long-haired variety of the British Shorthair. Known for its plush coat, the British Longhair is a charming and affectionate companion.
The British Longhair has a rounded body with broad hips and shoulders, giving it a robust and muscular appearance. A lack of muscle tone or a too-fine bone structure can lead to disqualification in cat shows. Its neck is muscular and short, often appearing almost non-existent. The legs are medium to short, depending on the cat association standards, and should be muscular with strong bones. The paws are round and firm, while the tail is thick, about two-thirds the length of the body, and well-furnished.
The head of the British Longhair is round with full cheeks and a well-rounded skull, tapering to a short muzzle. The eyes are large, round, and set wide apart, enhancing the broad appearance of the nose. Eye color should complement the coat, with bright colors preferred in shows. The ears are medium to small, wide at the base, and set well apart on the head, with rounded tips.
