What is this?

The Danish brewery company Carlsberg Group used the swastika as a logo from the 19th century until the middle of the 1930s, when it was discontinued because of association with the Nazi Party in neighbouring Germany. However, the swastika carved on elephants at the entrance gates of the company’s headquarters in Copenhagen in 1901 can still be seen today.

Enjoyed a very memorable afternoon at Carlsberg Brewery in 2007. Met a few University students who collected the unused beer coupons at the end of the brewery tour - and they shared these with me. We proceeded to get very drunk and I still love the memory from that day.

The trick with the swastikas almost fooled me but I'd seen a picture of the entrance to this brewery a while ago and remembered it because it was off-putting!
